Sinopsis
Experiments on adsorptive heat pumps operating either with a zeolite-water pair or with an active carbon-methanol pair have been performed on a laboratory scale unit (6 kW heat source).
A three-adsorber heat pump consisting of a two adsorber zeolite-water cycle topping an intermittent active carbon-methanol cycle has been designed and tested. An experimental cooling COP equal to 1.06 has been obtained.
All types of adsorption systems will be reviewed (fixed-bed as well as moving bed systems).
Adsorption heat pumps or refrigerating systems could be part of the answer to the problem of CFC atmospheric pollution.
