APPROACH TO DYNAMIC SCHEDULING IN FMS

Sinopsis

FMS allow for an increased number of potential alternative production schedules for each job set. Nevertheless, these production schedules are subject to additional resource constraints related to pallets or tools. Besides, they are more sensitive to disruptions due to the necessary synchronisation of the physical plant elements, which are closely interlinked. Therefore, adequate dynamic scheduling approaches for FMS are demanded in order to achieve optimised production schedules and increased levels of productivity. Some functional requirements of the scheduling approach are highlighted, namely, categorise and automatically process the most frequent disruptions, ensure a fast response, integrate decision into the overall control system, or use simulation to check the feasibility of production schedules.
