Sinopsis
Thermal insulation and stabilisation of microwave (MW) plasma and gaseous flame was investigated. It was discovered that changing the scheme of vortex stabilisation from
conventional to the reverse one leads to a significant decrease of the heat loss to the wall: from 30% to 5% for 3.5 kW MW plasma torch and approximately the same for 2 kW gaseous combustion chamber. Results of numerical simulation of MW plasma torch of conventional and reverse vortex scheme are in good agreement with predictions and experimental data.
