Optical method SIV (smoke image velocimetry) based on the frame-by-frame video processing is used for the study of turbulent pulsating flows in a smooth channel and the flow around the cylinder and the step. Determination of velocity vector fields in this method is based on measuring the movement of the turbulent structures visualized in the light sheet with smoke over a fixed time period between frames.
