Résumé
Infrared spectroscopy is very useful to determine the rates and pathways of hydrolytic decomposition reactions of organic and inorganic compounds in H2O up to T = 400°C and P = 350 atm. A spectroscopy flow cell and supporting process controls are described. The hydrothermolysis kinetics and pathways of guanidinium nitrate, [C(NH2)3]NO3, and urea, (NH2)2CO, are described to illustrate the power of this approach.
