A MODEL FOR COMPUTER-BASED CONTOUR-FAULT PREDICTION AND COMPENSATION WHEN MILLING SCULPTURED SURFACES

Résumé
When milling sculptured surfaces one of the major problems is the limited precision due to milling-cutter deflections caused by the cutting force. One method for improvement of surface quality is the computer based contour-fault prediction and compensation. Several methods for calculation and compensation of contour faults are discussed. A milling example shows the capability of the algorithm to reduce contour faults.
