Résumé

In order to be competitive in the international market, it is necessary not only to increase the productivity and quality of the manufactured products but also to achieve a cost reduction. But modem manufacturing systems are not obtaining the production rates that were thought for them during their design phase. Unscheduled downtimes of machines due to unexpected breakdowns are one of the main reasons for not reaching the production objectives and for the increase of production and maintenance costs. In this context, it is necessary to improve the quality and availability of the machines that take part in the productive process, developing systems that try to prevent the faults and try to minimize the effects of unscheduled breakdowns. For this reason, it is necessary to provide the maintenance staff with advanced diagnostic and maintenance management tools and an integration platform in which all of them can work in an integrated form together with production. For this purpose, a methodology for the management of maintenance has been developed and used in an automated manufacturing system located in the ETSII and of Telecommunications of Bilbao.
