Résumé

In this paper, we will present a finite-element based numerical scheme for predicting turbulent combusting gaseous flows. The algorithm for computing the compressible gaseous flows will first be given. An eddy-dissipation combustion model will be chosen to evaluate the combustion rate. Radiation effects will also be computed. Two turbulence models will be used: one is a conventional k − ε turbulence model, the other one is a so-called PNG-based k − ε model. The purpose of the paper is to compare the computational results produced by these two turbulence models. We will use the numerical scheme presented to simulate a combusting swirling flow in an axisymmetric furnace. Experimental data will be used to show the difference that the two k − ε turbulence models can make to the computational results.
