Résumé
At the Institut fur Raumfahrtsysteme of the University of Stuttgart in co-operation with the Haus der Technik in Essen an experimental and theoretical study on the mixing of liquids in a steam plasma jet is under investigation. The aim of this basic study is to optimize the mixing zone geometry and the injection zone for the later development of a waste water arcjet thruster for space station attitude control and other industrial applications.
In the first part of the paper we present the calculated thermodynamic and transport properties of process gas mixtures and the results of a 2D numerical simulation of the plasma flow field. In the second part the experimental set-up and first results are reported.
