Résumé

Advances in information technology and international competition are major reasons that the Information Age is rapidly displacing the Industrial Age. Most corporations have implemented some integrated information systems, possibly an ERP system, with plans to integrate these systems with others, such as a PDM system. Unfortunately, not all installations are successful. There are many reasons. The premise of this paper is that the number of successful system integration projects can be raised significantly when the appropriate set of configuration management principles is utilized. This paper discusses principles of configuration management and how they apply to the implementation and integration of information systems.
