Résumé

In a Flexible Assembly Line (FAL) System, parts among work stations are usually transported by an automated material handling system. The automated material handling design decisions have an important impact on the overall performance of a manufacturing system. In this paper we focus on the Automated Guided Vehicle Systems (AGVS). Then by considering a FAL system as a set of tandem flexible workstations, a set of automated inspection stations, linked by an automated material handling system with a central material handling depot, the performance of the flexible assembly line system is modeled by Markov decision theory and queuing theory to quantify the performance of the material handling in the proposed flexible assembly line system.
