STUDY ON PROLONGING THE LIFE-TIME OF CARBON STEEL-WATER HEAT PIPE

Carbon steel-water heat pipe is made of carbon steel as material for tube wall and water as working medium. However, carbon steel is incompatible with water, and on the inner wall of the operating carbon steel-water heat pipe, corrosion and hydrogen generation may occur. Yet this is an interesting subject to the researchers, because carbon steel-water heat pipe has such advantages as high heat transfer performance,low cost, etc.. If the life of the carbon steel-water heat pipe can be prolonged through a certain treatment, this investigation will be very significant. The authors will attempt to execute this work.
