Transport properties of magnetic nanoparticles are important parameters with respect to stability of a ferrofluid. Different experimental techniques to investigate the translational mass diffusion coefficient and the Soret coefficient are known. This paper deals with the optical method to observe the mass transport of magnetic nanoparticles in thin layers, based on formation of an index grating due to induced temperature and particle concentration modulations in the sample. By this method transport coefficient dependencies on applied magnetic field are obtained.
