要約

The present investigation employs metal and oxide powders which, when combined, provide a graded material system having a nickel-based intermetallic on one side, and a ceramic-based material on other. Specifically, a functionally-graded Ni3Al / TiB2 + Al203 composite has been developed using combustion synthesis. Thermodynamic calculations to determine the maximum theoretical temperature reached during combustion, otherwise known as the adiabatic temperature are presented. Combustion products were characterized using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. A method to density the material is introduced.
