The experimental results concerning the transient heat transfer in heated packed beds of uni-sized steel spheres and its short initial discussion are presented in the paper. The spheres of three, considerably different sizes were under investigation to observe the difference in the temperature distributions in packed bed layers of these spheres. The measurement showed, among others, that the temperature in the monolayer of packed bed of larger spheres is lower than the temperature in the similar monolayer of packed bed of spheres of smaller diameter.
