Precision forging combined with process-integrated quality control represents an intelligent and economical alternative for the production of gears. By integrating the quality assurance into the production process, both the logistics and the production-related risk are reduced. If a direct measurement of the quality parameter is not possible, conclusions must be drawn concerning this parameter in an indirect way, i.e. by measuring a process parameter which correlates with the quality parameter. Kowledge based systems can be used for the mathematical registration and analysis of the complex correlations between process parameters and part parameters.
