要約

A model is offered for an a.c. arc, which is stabilized by synchronized high-voltage pulses imposed at every half-period. The arc is supposed to bum in a duct with negligible gas flow-rate and connected to a circuit without ballast resistance. Expressions for instantaneous current and voltage as well as for effective current value as function of the arc ignition angle are obtained. Quantitative comparison of theoretical calculations with experimental data for an arc burning in air verifies the basic assumptions of the model.
