In this paper, an modified one-dimensional formulation of pin fin extend surface is proposed, which takes approximately into account the nonuniformity of temperature distributions across the fin, Then with the modified solution, thermal optimum analysis based on the minimization of entropy generation in pin fin extend surface are discussed. On the basis, the analytical method and graphic results for selecting the optimum dimensions of pin fin extended surface are developed.
