要約

This paper is concerned with electrohydrodynamic(EHD) enhanced heat transfer and heat exchangers. In the first place, the mechanism of EHD enhancement of two-phase heat transfer is discussed. Then the single tube experimental results of EHD enhancement of boiling heat transfer at different surfaces, such as Hitachi Thermoexcel-C, Thermoexcel-HE and Wieland Gewa-T, are presented and discussed and compared with smooth and low-fin surfaces. Furthermore, two typical EHD enhanced heat exchangers, one 9-tube and another 6-tube, recently developed in the U.K. are described. The investigation has indicated that EHD enhanced heat exchangers are suitable for low superheat conditions which particularly occur in many renewable energy applications.
