SIMULATION OF MULTI-MW MCFC SYSTEMS
DOI: 10.1615/HYSYDAYS2005.700
pages 461-466
要約
Today fuel cells are one of the most promising
environmentally-friendly technologies for the production of
electrical energy.
At the moment many types of fuel cells at different stages of development are being studied. Of these, Molten Carbonate Fuel Cells (MCFCs) have received a great deal of attention in recent years and are now at a pre-commercial stage.
In this work, a preliminary process analysis of multi-MW MCFC systems will be presented referring to the simulation experience of the Department of Environmental Engineering of the University of Genoa (DIAM) and Ansaldo Fuel Cells S.p.A. (AFCo) technology. The first results of the primary author's PhD thesis on the optimisation of MCFC plant operating conditions will be presented with a discussion about the importance of a proper recycle management in order to guarantee safe MCFC operating conditions. Then, thesis goals will be discussed.
In particular, the attention will be focused on an innovative application: the coupling of MCFC technology with the use of renewable sources.
