Processes of heat and mass transfer with phase transitions assume an important place in such modern technologies as thermal treatment and drying of materials, welding, metallurgy, heat protection, vacuum techniques, laser and electron-beam treatment of materials, and many other areas. Correct description of such processes, especially at high-rates, and at non-equilibrium conditions, requires the use of the methods of physical kinetics. The text covers external problems of heat and mass transfer in a weakly rarified gas on a permeable surface, internal problems of mass transfer kinetics, and transfer processes in high-porous media at different Knudsen numbers. Also discussed are transfer processes for free molecular gas flow in channels, problems of heat and mass.
