Resumo
The present paper reports results on the size of droplets atomised through a standard nozzle used for pesticides spraying. The experiments were carried out using an instrument based on the laser diffraction technique. The results obtained clearly show the presence of two populations inside the spray. The evaporation of droplets along the spray was observed and proved to be of paramount importance for the smaller sizes. This occurrence was found in agreement with numerical simulations of heat and mass transfer with the droplet. The results also suggest evidence of coalescence.
