Resumo

DLR is the national aerospace research establishment of Germany. It's main research fields are: aeronautics, space activities, energy technology and technology & innovation. More than 4,000 employees in seven research centers work on one of these fields. DLR is a member of the Hermann-von-Helmholz Society of German Research Centers. The DLR's Netscape address is: http://www.dlr.de/. The smallest center of DLR is the Lampoldshausen Research Center, founded in 1959 by Professor Eugen Sanger. It is located about 100 km north of Stuttgart. This center has a staff of 190 employees and consists of two divisions, Space Propulsion, and Space Propulsion Test Facilities. The main activities of the Space Propulsion Division are connected to aviation, space flight and energy technology. On the field of space flight, propellant injection, atomization, vaporization, mixing and combustion are of special interest. Our research is focused at gaseous-hydrogen liquid-oxygen combustion in high-pressure engines and at subsonic and supersonic combustion in ramjets. For the complex of fuel preparation and combustion, modem laser-based non-contact optical diagnostics are used. For numerical investigation, computer programs are developed and used for high pressure rocket engines as well as for system analysis. We have been working on theoretical models of the drop formation from a liquid jet.
