Resumo

An experimental study of the performance of an air-to-air thermosyphon based heat exchanger utilising R-22 as the working fluid has been carried out to investigate its behaviour under different operating conditions.
Three, six, nine and twelve row units were tested under equal evaporator and condenser section face velocities ranging, from 0.5 m/s to 2.5 m/s. Effectiveness hysteresis has been recognised and some of the results describing the phenomenon are presented. Observed 56% effectiveness of a six row heat exchanger exposed to 15 m/s face velocity at air stream temperature difference as low as 5° С indicates its high potential for use in heat recovery.
