Resumo
A new type of heat-pipe drill has been designed in accordance with the working principle of heat pipe and the requirements of practical cutting. This paper will describe the calculations of heat transfer and the contrast experiments. The experimental results have shown:
1. The heat transfer calculation of heat-pipe drill conforms with the experiment results basically, so that the equations of heat transfer will be of consultation value;
2. The heat-pipe drill is able to decrease the temperature of cutting area effectively. As a result, the wears of heat-pipe drill will be reduced by 3/10-1/5 in comparison with that of mechanical drill, thereby the drill life is raised:
3. This paper provides a basis for spread and application of the heat-pipe drill in production.
