Resumo
Comparisons of the maximal drop size in a spray, Dmax, using different drop sizing techniques often show immense disagreement. Present study describes the strategy how to measure Dmax in a spray using Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer and photographic experiments. Special limitations of the Phase Doppler Technique are explained, and the procedure is described how to reduce them. Distribution is presented of the biggest drops Dma, DV,0.99 and DV,0.99 in a swirl pressure spray.
