Resumo

The possibility of the decomposition of persistent compounds in a hydrogen-oxygen thermal plasma jet generated by the water stabilized plasma torch was investigated The process is based on the destruction of chemical bonds in molecules of treated compounds in the high temperature part of the plasma jet and subsequent oxidation of dissociated and ionized particles in a over-stoichiometric closed system. Main advantage of the process is very high temperature and velocity of plasma and thus high decomposition efficiency and high throughput of treated material.
