The overall quality of a product must be assessed through several attributes that reflect the product capabilities and customer attitude, as well as the manufacturer's success in achieving acceptable design and production. These attributes determine and are fundamental in changing the quality state of a manufacturing system. In this paper we present a framework for maintaining control of a manufacturing system. Our approach is to view the manufacturing system as a closed loop system with customer feedback provided through warranty information. An example is included
