Аннотация
A particle tracking method using the Kalman filter is presented. Three-dimensional particle tracking using this method has been numerically simulated in order to investigate its performance when the concentration of particles in a measuring region is dense and the noise level of observed particle positions is high. Three-dimensional flow passing through a cubic chamber which possessed an offset inlet and an outlet duct was used for the simulated measurement. Results were compared with the ones obtained by a currently well-recognized particle tracking method, and showed that the spatial resolution of three-dimensional PIV was considerably improved by Kalman filtering and that the excellent performance was highly maintained even when a large amount of noise was included in particle positions.
