Аннотация
The method of liquid-plasma treatment (LPT) finds an increasing employment for a polishing of surfaces of steel products.
The LPT-method applies the voltages (250 - 300 V) increased in comparison with the electromechanical method and the weak solutions of non-toxic salts.
Investigation of volt-ampere characteristics and photography of the steam-gaseous jacket formation process have allowed to conclude that the glow discharge between the metallic anode and the electrolyte cathode takes place without transition to arc in a wide range of current densities (0.2 - 5 A/cm2).
Investigation of temperature of samples during the treatment has shown increase of that temperature by 30− 35 °C in comparison with temperature of un electrolyte.
Electron emission from the electrolyte cathode didn't study enough. A proposed model allows to explain processes of initiation and maintenance of the glow discharge in the systems: the solid metallic anode - plasma - the electrolyte cathode. The further analysis of processes will allow to forecast the electrolyte composition for the polishing.
