This review provides a focus on the applications of heat pipes and thermosyphons in cold regions. The emphasis is on literature review by listing the related references. Examples of application include: (1) Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, (2) Ground Temperature Control (Frozen Ground Engineering), (3) Snow Melting and Deicing System, (4) Cold Storage and Ice Formation, and (5) Closed-Loop Two-Phase Thermosyphon System and Agriculture. Examples of application are shown, but technical details are not presented. A chronology of names and events relating to the development of thermosyphon and heat pipe is also presented for reference.
