Аннотация
Fouling causes significant operating cost penalties in large heat exchanger networks, which can be reduced by cleaning fouled units. A method for generating optimal cleaning schedules in large networks, using mixed integer non-linear programming, is presented here and illustrated by case studies based on a crude oil preheat train. The problem has been formulated to include both thermal and pressure drop constraints. Schedules for three year operations are calculated, featuring linear and non-linear (asymptotic) fouling behaviour.
