Development of the burnout (boiling crisis) in the water saturated with gas

Project: Visualization of Mechanical Processes

Journal: Visualization of Mechanical Processes: An International Online Journal

Article: EFFECT OF A DISSOLVED GAS ON THE CRITICAL HEAT FLUX DURING THE BOILING OF SUBCOOLED WATER

Topics: Bubbles, Boiling, Vapour explosions, Visualization techniques, Analytical techniques

This movie shows the recording of the burnout (boiling crisis) evolution in the water saturated with a gas. It can be seen that under large gas bubbles, a superheated zone leading to the surface melting in this place is formed. Weak heat inertia of the thin-walled capillary assists in the accelerated development of this process.
