Sinopsis
The requirement of a manufacturer to ensure that the product meets customer specification and expectation obligates the manufacturer to have confidence in the manufacturing and inspection facilities. When a typical batch of product contains twenty cartons of product, each containing 10,000 metres of rubber tape, the quantity and variety of measurements required, and the subsequent data processing can present the manufacturer with a formidable problem.
This paper describes a high speed packing machine which incorporates an inspection system to evaluate rubber tape product parameters as it is re-packed. The parameters measured include nick defects, thickness defects, elasticity defects and knots or snags as the product is re-packed. These parameters are measured at line speeds up to 100 metres / minute.
