COMPARISON BETWEEN PARTICLE IMAGE VELOCIMETRY AND LASER-DOPPLER ANEMOMETRY VELOCITY MEASUREMENT IN A CONVECTIVE BOUNDARY LAYER
Résumé
Early studies have used a water tank to simulate the convection phenomena in the atmospheric boundary layer. Taking measurements in a tank rather than directly in the atmosphere permits the experiment to be repeated as many times as it is necessary to achieve a large statistical base; the boundary and initial conditions can be easily controlled with high precision. Moreover, a wide range of velocity measurement techniques is not suitable for field experiments but is easily applied in a scientific laboratory.
