Resumo
This paper describes the determination of measurement area where particles pass in the LDA measurement volume. PDA system provides different area sizes for individual particle size. Not only for the estimation of particle mass flux but also for the size distribution itself the effective measurement area has an significant meaning. As to obtain data of reliable particle mass flux, discussions are made on PDA which might measure spheres and on a newly developed a LDA-based shadow image particle analyzer which might permit measurements of deformed non-spherical particles.
